New software available for your Xperia™ smartphone. Sony Ericsson today launched new software update for Xperia™ arc, Xperia™ neo and Xperia™ PLAY.
The new software includes:
- Upgrade of the Android™ platform to Gingerbread 2.3.3.
- Fully integrated Facebook in multimedia applications, phonebook and calendar.
- System stability improvement.
- Functionality improvement concerning time and clock. Fixed problem with clock widget mismatch affects the alarm.
- Improved voice quality by optimizing noise suppression tuning.
- Stability and performance improvements in Homescreen and Timescape widget.
- Stability corrections of picture Gallery.
- Stability corrections of mediashare.
The new update also fix several problems:
- A critical security fix. The issue was that hackers had found and published a way of taking full control of the entire phone of those built on Gingerbread SW. This made it possible for the hacker to break all security in our phones, including Android Market. This fix has now been implemented and the issue solved.
- The issue when user presses back key and exits application immediately after turning off media server application (DLNA/MDMS) by turning check box off, application becomes unstable from next time.
- After removing a HDMI cable, power consumption has been kept a little bit high. Now power consumption is changed to stable after using HMDI.
- SurfaceFlinger allocation fails and display doesn’t update properly.
- USB icon did not disappear in status row when unplugging USB cable.
- Sometimes black screen is displayed when camera application is launched.
- After a few minutes, the device looses the GPS signal and Navigation is impossible.
- Correct Auto Exposure value in case of backlight situation.
- The Email “Sent” folder displayed the messages organized by sender instead of the recipient.
- After configuring an email account to work with MS Push (Exchange Email) the handset seemed erratic after the first sync. Emails would not be received even after power cycling and telling device to sync manually. On occasions they would be half an hour or several days late.
- Cannot configure Microsoft Online Services (MOS) mail (exchange) account in the device. On entering all the required settings and chose to proceed, device tries to complete the set up but fails and reverts back to the account settings page.
- Prevent http stream from restarting after resume.
Update for Xperia™ PLAY also includes:
- A fixed problem with phone freeze after slider open/close one time.
- Improve voice quality via BT device during call.
Note: you can update phone’s software using your phone (FOTA tool) or using a PC (Update Service or PC Companion applications).
