As of friday July 29th, Sony Ericsson began rolling out Gingerbread update to generic kits of Xperia™  X10.  Over the coming weeks the update should be gradually reaching everyone with a generic trade kit. Note not everyone one will get this update. As stated by Mattias Holm of Sony Ericsson’s Product Launch Blog, “Even if there will be some operator kits getting this upgrade – some of you will not be able to upgrade your customized version of Xperia™ X10.” The rollout is phased and the upgrade can only be installed via computer using Sony Ericsson’s Pc Companion software.

Features Overview:

  1. Retains Camera UI as in the Éclair version.
  2. Facebook inside Xperia™
  3. Homescreen Overview gesture
  4. Wi-Fi & USB tethering
  5. App storage on SD-card
  6. Horizontal app tray
  7. Media experience widgets
  8. Integrated equalizer in Music Player
  9. Ability to download Apps that require 2.2 or 2.3 from the Android Market
