Sony has announced the Android KitKat 4.4 roll-out for three of its Xperia flagship devices the Xperia Z1 Compact, Xperia Z1 and the Xperia Z Ultra. These will the first devices fromSony that will receive the chocolate flavored treatment, and the roll-out has begun soon. It may take a few hours to see this update on the device.
Thus with the update, the devices will be getting some standard KitKat cherries like better memory management, white status bar icons, including improved performance, wireless printing support, full-screen “immersive” mode along with few changes from Sony itself. Newer versions of Sony apps like MyXperia, WALKMAN, Messaging, Smart Social Camera, Album and much more. Moreover, there is a new live wallpaper and launch animation that matches the UI on PS4. The status bar is also bit tweaked and quick setting’s page is more customizable.
Sony also has unveiled few details about the next device in line for the KitKat update. The Xperia ZL, Xperia Z and the Xperia Tablet Z will get the update in mid of Q2 moreover other devices like the Xperia T2 Ultra, Xperia M2 and Xperia E1 are also in the list however its not mention when the latter three will receive the update.
