Ever since the launch of Sony Xperia Go way back in 2012, we haven’t seen any affordable smartphone from the Japanese giant which is rugged and waterproof. The recently launched waterproof handsets from the company include the Xperia Z1S, Xperia Z2 and the Xperia Z1 Compact. However, all the handsets are available at a price much above the $300 mark.
Recent reports from DigiTimes show that the Japanese giant may bring out waterproof handsets for price lower than $300 during next year. These reports have arrived from some source of the component supply chain. The report show that Sony is in talks with various suppliers to produce a low-end or mid-end waterproof handset next year. The reports show that the Taiwanese ODMs are ready to manufacturer such kind of devices.
At the moment, we have still to hear any official word from Sony for the same news are that other competitors are also in the race for low budget waterproof handsets.
