Sony Ericsson announces Xperia™ S

Today Sony Ericsson (or I can say just Sony) announced it’s new Android-based phone Xperia™ S also known as Nozomi LT26i. As you can see from PR-images the new device has “Sony” logotype on the front, while on old prototype devices we still can clearly see “Sony Ericsson” logo.

Xperia™ S has 4.3″ 16, 000,000 colour TFT 1280×720 pixels touchscreen, a 12 megapixel camera with Sony Exmor R™ sensor featuring 1080p video recording.

Xperia S™ will be powered by a 1.5GHz dual-core processor (MSM8260 chipset) and 32GB of internal memory. The phone support Android 2.3 at launch. Upgrade to Android 4.0 will be possible in 2nd half of 2012.

Xperia™ S weighs 144 grams and sizes 128 x 64 x 10.6 mm. The phone will be availble from 2nd quater 2012 in two colours: Black and Silver.

Sony Ericsson 2011 Xperia ™ Phones To Get Ice Cream Sandwich

The Latest and greatest update Ice Cream Sandwich will be coming to all 2011 Xperia™ models. Right after the realease of Android 4.0 source code, Sony Ericsson made known its intent to up date all 2011 Xperia™ Phones. They are working on transferring their current Xperia™ experience with the new features in Android 4.0. Availability and timing of this update will be communicated through its Product Launch Blog.

Sony acquire Ericsson’s 50 percent stake of Sony Ericsson

Sony Corporation and Ericsson today announced that Sony will acquire Ericsson’s 50 percent stake in Sony Ericsson company, making the mobile handset business a wholly-owned subsidiary of Sony.

The transaction gives Sony an opportunity to rapidly integrate smartphones into its broad array of network-connected consumer electronics devices – including tablets, televisions and personal computers – for the benefit of consumers and the growth of its business. The transaction also provides Sony with a broad intellectual property cross-licensing agreement covering all products and services of Sony as well as ownership of five essential patent families relating to wireless handset technology.

As part of the transaction, Ericsson will receive a cash consideration of EUR 1.05 billion.

Gingerbread 2.3.4 Update Official Coming October

Sony Ericsson announced today that it will update all 2011 Xperia™ models to Gingerbread 2.3.4 in October. This update will start to roll out in select markets in October. Update will be in phased as with previous one’s. Once available owners will get a notification in phone instructing them to instantaneously download the software over the air via 3G or WiFi. The update can also be done through Sony Ericsson’s PC Companion software.

Updated Facebook inside Xperia™ functionality for enhanced like, share and discover abilities.
Xperia™ smartphones introducing world’s first 3D sweep panorama functionality powered by Sony.

Sony Ericsson announce Live with Walkman™

Today Sony Ericsson announce it’s new mobile phone called Live with Walkman™ previously known as WT19i. You can call the new Live with Walkman™ a Walkman-based version of Xperia™ mini. Live with Walkman™ basically have the same features but it is more thick than Xperia™ mini and provide more music features inlude Walkman™ player and stereospeakers as well as the new xLoud™ technology, TrackID™ etc.

The new phone features 3.2″ 16M colour 320×480 pixels multi-touch TFT screen, a 5.0 megapixel camera with autofocus and 720p video recording and a front-facing camera for Skype video calling.

The new Live with Walkman™ is based on 1 GHz processor and runs Android 2.3 Gingerbread platform (probably version 2.3.4 after release). All these features are packed in 14.2 mm slim body with weight about 115 gramms. Sony Ericsson WT19i will be released in selected markets in Q4, 2011 in two nice colours: Black and White.

Sony Ericsson announces two new phones txt pro and Mix Walkman™. Both phones based on Sony Ericsson’s proprietary OS and will be available in selected markets from Q3 2011.

Sony Ericsson txt pro

Sony Ericsson txt pro also known as CK15i is a phone with focus on social communication. The device has a slide out full QWERTY-keyboard for quick messaging and the integrated friends application enables you to add your five best friends for easy access to their feeds from Facebook and Twitter. The phone features 3 inches 400×240 pixels 262,144 colour TFT touchscreen, 3.2 megapixel camera, Wi-Fi, microSD™ support up to 32GB, RAM 64 Mb, etc. Sony Ericsson txt pro sizes 93 x 52 x 18 mm, weights 100 grams and will be available in three colours: Black, White and Pink.

Sony Ericsson Mix Walkman™

Sony Ericsson Mix Walkman™ is a music touch phone that truly focuses on entertainment. It includes a feature called Zappin™ that lets you browse through your songs in a fun way by automatically being served the chorus of the songs while skipping through them. It also has a cool karaoke mode that lowers the vocal track of any song while you play it. The look of the phone can also be personalized with exchangeable color bands that run along the edge of the phone making it possible to give your phone different looks for different occasions. The phone has the same features as Sony Ericsson txt pro, but there is no a QWERTY-keyboard. Mix Walkman™ sizes 95.8 x 52.8 x 14.3 mm and weights only 88 grams.
